The lyric, written by Nancy Hamilton, is beautiful – and Fitzgerald sings it as it was written, making lines such as “Somewhere there’s heaven/How high the moon” sound undeniably poignant. “How High The Moon” really shins amongst Fitzgerald’s other material from the late s, and it’s easy to see why.

Ella Fitzgerald - How High The Moon (feat. Lionel Hampton & Hamptonians) Covering an important six-year period in Ella Fitzgerald's career, this two-CD set contains some of the highlights of the period as she develops from a top big-band singer into a masterful jazz improviser.
